About Patrick Giguère

Welcome! I have been a professional licensed acupuncturist since 2012. I am not only a practitioner, but also a long time patient. This medicine helped me in countless ways. I enjoy sharing it with people who are motivated to proactively improve their health and wellness on all levels: physically, mentally & emotionally, and spiritually.

You, the patient, do most of the work. I am a guide with specialized training and education, an extremely unique of skills, and perspective. I welcome all who take their health seriously and are not looking for a Medical Messiah.

I found acupuncture while serving in the US Navy. After leaving service and starting a new chapter of my life, I really started to see the value and efficacy of acupuncture & Chinese Medicine. The process of resolving built up stress, anxiety, and insomnia was just beginning.

My Story

I decided to study Acupuncture & Classical Chinese Medicine just after the Wall Street bailouts of 2008. At the time, doctors' insurance reimbursements were slashed and many doctors began the still-ongoing exodus out of the medical profession. I could tell a major sea change was taking place in the medical field. The top-down financial collapse that took place drove insurance companies to seek natural modalities that are more cost-effective than standard Western medicine. I knew natural medicine would become increasingly common place and more widely accepted.

My course of study in Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine, and my continued studies after graduation, radically expanded my understanding of the Body-Mind-Soul connection. Oriental Medicine is not a set of protocols and procedures, it is a view of the universe and humanity’s place within it. Ancient Chinese Taoism is the source of Oriental Medicine. From the Taoist perspective, humanity’s role in the universe is to express and gratify our Soul’s desires. Doing this is the supreme path to health and the most genuine and effective way of helping others. It’s just like airline safety protocols: “in the event of an emergency, first put on your own oxygen mask before assisting others.” For maximum health and happiness, we all need to have our own lives. It is all we can control.

During my course of study I learned Acupuncture, Cupping, Gua Sha, Electro-Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Nutrition, and Chinese Medical Massage (Tui Na). Concurrent to my studies in Chinese Medicine, I studied Chi Gong and Tai Chi.All of these modalities are merely means to an end. This end is restoring the harmony between Body, Mind, and Soul.

After completing my studies in Oriental Medicine, I became interested in learning how to use exercise to heal various ailments and resolve pain. The more naturally we move, the better we feel. Natural movement helps to reestablish the Body-Mind-Soul Connection. Little children move naturally, just as they know who they truly are and who they want to be. In addition to Tai Chi and Chi Gong, systems like calisthenics, primal animal movements and Systema helped me to reestablish natural movement.

Also after graduation, I delved into the more ancient of form of Oriental Medicine that was not corrupted and watered down by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Exiles from communist China preserve and teach this more ancient, authentic form of the medicine.

Currently, I practice at 925 S. Kerr Ave Suite F3 in Wilmington, NC. I am also available for house calls, group events, and private classes.

I earned an M.S. from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (2012), a B.S. from the United States Naval Academy (2004), and am fully licensed and insured in North Carolina.
